(Edit: The title is just a bit of a joke, just my take.)

BUT SERIOUSLY, look for a less biased source. If CNN is fakenews, and if FOX is also fakenews, then go to independents who look up things themselves and who want to learn what actually happened, rather than an outlet that wants to frame a story in a certain way to push a narrative.

Here is a center-left guy who is even skeptical of this story, as told by CNN. You can see the articles/statements he is pulling up in the video. Even if you don't agree with this source, you will likely learn details about this story that MSM omitted.

Oh, when I said "just a joke" I was referring to my title of this thread. Was just being a bit cynical :) Nonetheless, I'm very skeptical of the initial story.

I'm not convinced of anything yet. The narrative too conveniently conflates anti black violence with homophobia & there also just so happens to currently be proposed political legislation doing the same

Attackers could be motivated by the legislation just as easily as anyone else.

Two white racists roaming around the area with ski masks on recognize him from Empire? They watch Empire?
He leaves the noose on all way up until the police show up at his home? Optics?

There is almost no single bit of his story that rings true. I feel truly terrible for the guy. I really doubt that he deserved that beat-down (regardless of who really dealt it) but it is so obviously a case of him making hay from a bad situation. It's ugly but Rom Emanuel was right about not letting a disaster go to waste.

What pisses me off is that there will be an actual assault like this in the future and the people polarized by this lame story will be less likely to believe it.

Politics is ugly. It makes people ugly.

Empire is shot in Chicago. Its local for them.

Wandering around? Or planning an attack at 2am when witnesses are rare?

Leaving noose on neck = Preserving evidence. Touching it could slow down any potential DNA matches, could knock an important fiber off, etc.

I don't want to disbelieve him, I just don't believe him. On the other hand there are so so many that WANT to believe him in spite of the holes in that boat. Politics.

It sounds like a tale a 10 year old would tell. It is an unsophisticated lie. The details are dodgy and it seems that when anyone points that out, they are labeled as some kind of racist, homophobe, Trump-lover. This whole thing is crazy. I really am shocked how many people are falling for this. I think most of them are just happy to believe anything that fits their belief system. Fanatics do that. Fanatics of any stripe. Look at the Birther maniacs during Obama.
