Housekeeper found him unresponsive on Saturday morning and Los Angeles police were called. TMZ reported that police were treating it as a natural death.

Los Angeles police and fire departments said they responded to a Los Angeles house, where a man was declared dead from natural causes.

He LITERALLY died a day after his birthday. He just turned 76.

Very sad, I recall watching his exercise programs in the 80's as a teen. He was funny.

reply

He had a generous heart helping others in desperate need. RIP

reply

Yes. He did seem like a decent man.
His zany antics in interviews could sometimes fly off the rails but he had a heart and a sense of humor.

Sad news.

I just found this video and was smiling throughout. Tour bus stops in front of his home. Richard is unbelievably kind and generous to the tourists even though he's in his rights to want to be left alone while relaxing at home.

I know it's a cliche, but I'm convinced he's in a better place and getting a kick out of being there as the pearly gates opened for him.

reply

A very telling video. The guy was a real sweetheart. Imagine a bus full of strangers surprising you out in your garden?
I doubt I’d have been such a charming gent! The guy was a teddy bear and just so fun and kind👍

reply

And they interviewed him and he said he was fine.. Wow!!

reply

RIP and in honor of Richard Simmons here's my favorite Simpsons joke about him.

RIP.

Somehow I have a hard time believing he died of natural causes. Are you telling me that as healthy and fit he was, he died naturally? I don’t buy it. I think someone had him killed.

reply

Dude you don't know much about the human body if you think just because you are healthy you can't die by 76.

reply

TMZ: Law enforcement sources say Richard took a fall last night, which may be connected to his passing.

reply

This is the first time I’m hearing about his death :(

Simmons was a burst of energy, never taking himself too seriously, which was the secret to his charm. His appearance on "Whose Line Is It Anyway" (2003) remains one of the funniest sketches I've ever seen.

RIP Richard
