One of the best story tellers of my generation, in my opinion - The Best

To some, Shyamalan's movies can be a bit tedious and drawn out, (long, slow, no explosions, no real cussing, no car chases, actual dialogue - you know, 'Real Cinema') but that's what I enjoy about his films.

He is to me, one of my generation's greatest story tellers and 1 day histoians will treat him as such, and all those 'grand, expansive, expensive, explosive, blood gushing, cussing, sexing, drugging - loving Directors will be looked upon by those same historians and history as more damaging to cinema and culture than video games, but hey, they made money.

He WAS great. But then something happened to the guy. He hasn't made a good movie in 10 years. I think he's still a good director, but maybe he should let someone else help him with the writing or something.

Yes, and I compare him to Kubrick in the way he structures his movies ie using a "vehicle" to get bums on seats and a deep message that very few ever see [with eyes wide shut].

Difference is Night is actually doing same [ie telling J Doe what is wrong with himself] from INSIDE the lion's den while Kubrick simply got out of america in 1960 never to return.

I think Kubrick would have been in awe at how well he did that in 6th Sense but he did not live to see it all pan out.
