I reckon when Sicario is released, and so far getting critical acclaim, this guy will be on all the major studios want list.
I was quite surprised when I came to his IMDB from the Sicario page to find out it's his first script and I recognized him from SOA. I fully expected him to have a couple of indie low budget screenplays behind him already.

Ditto! I was searching for whomever wrote Sicario, which by the way, looks absolutely freakin' sick, and was taken by surprise when I saw the photo of Deputy Hale from SOA! Like you, I imagined he had a couple of project like some indies or whatever, but it was his first screenplay! What a way to kick his writing career off! If it was me, I would've asked for a small role... Being an actor and everything...
And I just noticed his second screenplay is about to me made into film as well, with Chris Pine, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges! This guy is on fire...
