Only if he can nab the right role. His performance in Revolutionary Road is deserving of such an award. It's a pity he had to run against the buzz saw that is Ledgers Joker.

Ironic cause Shannon would have made the perfect comic book accurate Joker. How can you look at him and not see deliciously dark mania personified in human form? XD

er- NO! I like the actor, but this tedious derivative art-house POS gave Shannon one of the most TRIVIAL roles of his career. Wow- he played older than his actual age- big whoop.

Every week I see multiple performances on US TV infinitely more impressive than Shannon in Nocturnal Animals. Now it's not his fault he had a nothing role in this movie, or that the movie was laughable compared, to say almost any episode of 'Justified'. Clearly the Oscar peeps think its time he was recognised. But I hate it when good actors get noms or wins for some of their poorest work, just cos the movie/director is 'trendy' or the Academy is desperate to not appear as if they are over-looking an 'important' actor.

It is shameful just how poor most Hollywood films are today compared to the new Golden Age US TV shows.
