I just had this revelation that he would be absolutely amazing in True Detective. His performance in The Drop shows that dark and violent side that made the first season so awesome. He would be a great choice after such a disappointing 2nd season.

Actor Tim Murphy, who played Russian mobster Osip Agronov in the chilling series, has revealed that talks are underway for the crime drama's third instalment and claimed it could be moving to Europe.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the 55-year-old Irish actor said: "I think there is going to be a third season. I've been hearing something about it being set in Europe so that would be interesting.
"So if there's a movie that jumps out at me there it would be The French Connection; something like that set in Paris."
As for possible names attached to the project, Tim shared two actors he'd love to see follow in his footsteps.
"An actor that was attached for a while to Galveston [True Detective show runner Nic Pizzlatto's new script] is Matthias Schoenaerts, he's a Belgian actor. He did Bullhead years ago.
"He's a great actor and if you were going to get a great European actor, he's one of them," Tim explained.

I think an Europe-set Season 3 might be an interesting concept. I still have to see the second, but I was never really interested in it because of the cast, and it doesn't surprise me that it received a mixed reception. Schoenaerts would be a nice fit for the show. Maybe Roskam could direct the season (looks like he'd be in his element after 'Bullhead' and 'The Drop').
