shareYep. Which is great, because I'd rather see him in movies anyway. =D
shareOh my gosh EMAGGIE i was just about to post the very same question! LOL.
I stood there watching tonight's episode with my hands clenched together saying "oh now don't let him die!"....
I hope he's not dead on the show, that would be a shame, i LOVE Rodrigo in movies but at least this way there was a possibility of seeing him every week on TV instead of waiting for movies to come out once in a while.
How do we know that they are dead for sure, i mean we did see "Nikki's" eyes open, maybe she will dig out of the sand!
Attila, how do you know for sure that he is no longer on the show? Did he confirm it in an interview or something? Man, that would be such a shame, and just as they FINALLY gave us a full episode with Rodrigo they have to go and kill him....i gotta be honest, i was a die hard "Lost" fan, but this season has disappointed me beyond belief! I still watch it because i want to see what the end will be and i dont want to feel like i wasted all that time watching it up til now, but they gotta do something to save the show ASAP!
And killing Rodrigo doesnt help me either! I LOVE HIM! Damn, i hope it's not true.
DOes anyone know any spoilers?? IF you do know anything just PM me and dish the dirt, lol, or you can post here with a "warning" sign or something so that other wont be upset.
I guess we'll have to wait til next week to find out if he made it or not.
Well, it's strange because he is credited for the next two episodes and isn't 'credit only'.
WARNING...spoilers for Exposé.
The thing is, he should have woken up before Nikki since he was bitten first. But if he was still paralysed, his heart rate was slowed down meaning that he didn't need as much oxygen. So, he wasn't breathing noticably (maybe at all), especially since they thought he was dead because that meant that they obviously couldn't see him breathing. So he could survive under the sand without breathing then when he woke up he would have about four minutes to dig himself out before he suffocated (or so I have heard).
So it's possible that he isn't dead, even though he has quite a few movies coming up :).
The producers DID say that he would leave but not die and that there was a possibility that he could return. And (I read a translation because I don't speak Portugese) in the Rolling Stone interview, didn't he say that Paulo 'would PROBABLY die' before the end of the season?
I find it hard to believe that they would kill off characters they tried to hype up so much...they were supposed to be iconic and I can't see how. The only thing central to the show that they did was cause Charlie to reveal his secret to Sun. Which would have happened eventually anyway.

There was a signature here, but it's gone now.

I was thinking that, too, but I'm not sure if it would be possible to dig himself out in only four minutes. Sawyer and Hurley piled a pretty big mound of dirt over him and Nikki, and I'm sure he would be fairly weak after having been paralyzed for eight hours.
I haven't read the Rolling Stone interview, but I've heard that he said in the interview that Paulo would only be around for one season. If that's true, then I'm guessing he's not going to be digging his way out of that grave anytime soon. I hope that he does come back for occasional flashbacks, though, because I don't want to see him disappear altogether.

Agreed. I was pretty frustrated at the end of the episode, because the whole thing just seemed so pointless. I'm not sure why they even bothered to introduce Paulo and Nikki in the first place. Does being buried alive equal being "iconic"? Hopefully there'll be some kind of flashbacks or more explanation later on in the show about whatever it was that was supposed to make them significant.
It looks like hes in two more episodes after Exposé under lost credits. But they could be just flashbacks..
"Lost" .... Paulo (16 episodes, 2006-2007)
- One of Us (2007) TV Episode .... Paulo (4/11)
- Left Behind (2007) TV Episode .... Paulo (4/4)
- Exposé (2007) TV Episode .... Paulo (3/28)
- The Man from Tallahassee (2007) TV Episode (credit only) .... Paulo
- Par Avion (2007) TV Episode (credit only) .... Paulo
That could also just be misinformation on IMDB's part. I remember back in season two, Henry Ian Cusick and Mira Furlan were listed on IMDB for several different episodes that they never appeared in.
shareThis is just a guess, but I think describing them as "iconic" was meant to be true but misleading. The characters themselves didn't have much to do, but the structure of the episode itself, the backstory, and the manner in which their "deaths" played out was VERY Hitchcockian- making THAT the icon being referred to, not Nikki and Paulo themselves.
