I think the story is that Hiroyuki Sanada and Nanako Matsushima, hero and heroine of Ringu were both contracted for ten years. The film would have to be done by next year otherwise they'll have to try and contract him again. There is another story that they were contracted for three films, but Matsushima's scenes were acieved in Rasen and they both have pretty much done three moves (Ringu, Rasen and Ringu 2)... So once again you have to re-contract him.
