Funny quote

[on her dislike of making Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)] I didn't like the experience of working on Pirates and I feel that it is my job to be completely honest. To me, that's what a Hollywood movie felt like. If that's what I have to witness, and have to go through, to do a Hollywood movie, I'd rather do something else. It was just too massive. You really felt the immensity of it. Just not my taste.

I am a fan. I've never seen her in a really deep role, but I generally like the movies she's in. They tend to be the best sci-fi movie of that given year. That being said, I found this quote super ironic being that the movies in her career have only gotten greater in scale and more Hollywood; from a consumer perspective.

They may be super cool and easy to work with, but what is more grand-scale Hollywood than James Cameron, J.J. Abrams, and Marvel/Disney?

I think that she is talking about behind the scenes stuff when she says it's a hollywood movie.
she doesn't make it a mystery in interviews that they treated her like s**t when she was filming PoTC (which is part of the reason why she wasn't in the sequels) and that there were pretty elite with the big stars in it. She is not talking about her co-stars, I think something with the producers

she was a smaller actress at the time than she is now in the franchises like trek, avatar and GoTG

I agree. I think she had a specific bad experience in POTC and she wasn't well known back then. But nowadays she's famous all around the world because of big blockbusters from Hollywood, such as Avatar and Star Trek. Now, Guardians Of The Galaxy =)
