Mark Rylance is a real actor and thanks to Spilberg he will become HUGE. Sly is a one trick pony that has virtually played the same washed up character over and over, he is barely straight-to-dvd material and has a good colection of Razzie awards. You should be classy and greatful for his pity nom. He probably came in fifth anyways. You can bash Mark all you want, you can't change the facts

People complaining about Sly not winning are franchise fans, and people saying Rylance shouldn't have beaten Hardy are just easily tricked into thinking a loud performance = the best one. This Oscar was deserved.

He looked disappointed when Mark's name was called, but that's totally understandable. And- unlike Bale- he applauded.
He's a fine actor, widely admired for a wide range of work. If someone teaching cinema history can't see that I'd say it's a poor show, and someone in your (alleged) position throwing around phrases like "pseudo-intellectual millennials" is surely inappropriate.
