One of my friends on facebook shared the status update of one of his friends - of whom I'm not linked to except through him - who happened to run into him on in London today and she posted the following:
H[named snipped for privacy] and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) meet on Kensington High Street.
Below is an excerpt from a 20min discussion:
H: Bless you for all your pro-Palestinian support on Twitter.
Mark: Ah it's no problem. You should see all the hate I get for posting all of that. ... Honestly I'm disgusted by all the dehumanization of Palestinians. How can anyone believe that anyone would would put their own child in front of a bomb? Hey, if you got some time, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?
H: Sure.
Mark: Who are Hamas? .. Do all the Arabs/Muslims support them? .. Why won't Egypt help the Palestinians? .. What's in the Hamas charter?.. What's the history of the conflict? .. What's the history of Gaza? .. Are there non-violent movements that the media isn't reporting on? ..
H: (answers all the questions)
Mark: I hope you don't mind that I've asked you all of this. I just really want to learn. Can you please send me all the things you recommended for me to read/see? Here's my email. I'll share it.
H: Absolutely. The number one thing is to check out the Electronic Intifada.
Mark: Intidafa?
H: No intifada. It means 'resistance', 'uprising'...
Mark: Haha wow that's a cool name.
H's cousin whose first language isn't English hands Mark a bracelet: Here Mark, please wear my garter.
In conclusion: the most honest, decent, caring, down to Earth, respectful Hollywood star I have a ever met. Both artist and human. Jah bless!
He doesn't seem like a douche to me. Just someone reacting in a human way and trying to learn as much about the situation as he can.
