He should play Patrick Bateman in possible American Psycho remake

No one (as far as I can tell) is tossing this out there, but I've been reading the news of a possible remake of AMERICAN PSYCHO, and Routh immediately came to mind as the best choice for Patrick Bateman.

Despite the negative reviews of DYLAN DOG, I thought he was brilliant in it, and he sorta proved he can easily play deep-voiced hunk without a problem.

I always imagine Bateman with the same sort of look as Bale (and Routh)...strong jaw, strong facial features, in-shape, great hair...deep voice, can look a little mysterious and menacing at times, but also can be totally charming and professional.

Plus, he's just so damned likeable. I'd definitely check out a remake with Routh in the lead role.

Couple of things:

- First, it seems interesting that you propose a one-time Superman taking on a role held by the most recent Batman actor. ;)

- And second, Routh actually has a tie to a Bret Easton Ellis adaptation. He was part of the cast of "The Informers," but his scenes were cut. (Probably just as well - the film got horrible reviews, and many of them mentioned the film would have worked better with Routh's character.)

SMALLVILLE: 218 episodes...and SuperBlur?

Even better reason for him to play the part. :) Just for the sake of adding that trivia to the IMDB page for the film.

I didn't even realize there was a movie for THE INFORMERS. Hmmm. Interesting though- I wonder if Ellis was involved with the film version of that at all and might consider Routh? I read just yesterday that Ellis said he had to approve the actor to play Bateman before approving a remake.

Sorry but that sounds terrible. Bale did such a great job and has a massive range compared to the young and wooden Routh. I really want to like this guy but he had his calling for Superman and didn't wow anyone. Kal-El for life dude.
