^This. Superman Returns may have had its faults, but Brandon Routh was NOT one of them.

I've said this on numerous occasions and I'm saying it again: WB screwed this guy royally on another chance to play Superman. They confirmed a follow-up to SR in August 2006 despite a less-than-expected box office. For the next two years, Bryan Singer, along with his writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, tried to lay the foundation for a sequel, promising a 'Wrath of Khan' style.

But the powers that be continued to sit on their hands, waiting. Meantime, Singer went on to direct Valkyrie, while Dougherty and Harris worked on Trick 'R Treat.

Finally, they decided to go in a new direction. In the process, a promising young actor got pushed aside. It's ironic because he looks more the part now, in 2013, than he did in 2006. I really hope he gets another chance.

SMALLVILLE: 218 episodes...and SuperBlur?
