Every time I see Brandon Routh, I see Superman
Hate to start a new thread, but Brandon just emodies that stereotypical Clark Kent/Superman look. I am watching him as the Atom on Arrow. All I can think is he should be Superman again.

shareHe probably would still be Superman if not for Superman Returns bombing and requiring a reboot.
shareHate to break it to you, but it wasn't a flop. It may not have done Avengers-like numbers, but it still out-grossed Batman Begins. Plus, a sequel was confirmed even with the less-than-stellar box office.
A more accurate statement would be: "He probably would still be Superman if not for the writers' strike of 2007, Singer's work on Valkyrie, and WB continuously dragging its feet."
SMALLVILLE: 218 episodes...and SuperBlur?
I see superman/Christopher Gorham.
shareI hate to break it to YOU but a movie has to make twice it's budget to break even due to theaters taking 1/2 of ticket sales, and the budget for Superman returns was estimated to be $204 Million not counting marketing (which was probably another $75-$100 Million)...it only made $374 Million worldwide. It made only $85 Million on DVD sales...something else that is taken up a lot from the stores...so it DID flop. Added to that is had much lower cinema score than anticipated for under 25 it's target audience, a sequel was a bad business move. (a B-,pretty bad) The only reason a sequel was planned is because a pay or play was signed with Brian Singer before the first film was released so WB would lose quite a lot of money but not making one. However, they realized, rightfully, that they would lose a lot more by making a sequel.

The film was a huge money loser. Batman Begin on the other made a killing on DVD ($153,798,948) and made almost as much as Superman Returns at the worldwide Box Office ($358 Million) with a smaller budget ($150 Million). And had a higher Cinemascore (An A across the board) Because of the killing it made on DVD and how well it was recieved WB figured a sequel was a good idea, and they were obviously right.
