Well, yeah. He wasn't really *there* but the actor's return, even if for an imaginary role, is indication that he may actually return in the future. Never say never.
I didn't even need to see previews for S3 to know he'd return.
There's always something about families or brothers reuniting.
And Merle being a former POW (like Daryl)... parallel to a horror film psycho killer.. of course he'd be back again...
