Why Do So Many People on Here Hate on Him?

I think he is immensely talented and funny (not a fan of the marijuana stuff but that's part of his persona). Knocked Up is one of the best movies of the last decade - I actually wore out my first DVD of it.

He is only 33 and has a long, bright career ahead of him. Let the haters hate. He is crying all the way to the bank. And the anti-Semitism on here is so uncalled for - he made it on talent, not because he was friends with Dustin Hoffman's kids.

Oh, yeah, and I'm often told I look like him.

I haven't read any of the posts why people dislike him, but I'll share my thoughts.

He has been well known in movies for about a decade now and in all of them he just tends to be himself. In one movie he literally is just himself. He needs to start playing different characters.

When he was a side character and just played the assistant comedy that was fine, but his lead comedy characters with only the same two or three run throws, I think no one wants that any more.

Especially when we're being told he's so funny so often, and we don't agree it only makes you feel that you need to be loud to express.

Also, I thought Knocked Up was no good as soon as it started, maybe not the comedy but what happened. He (the character) was a dick the whole time when he should understand responsibilities in the real world, just like how that happens thousands open thousands a time a year just in this country. It's not funny, so it's hard to stay focused on the jokes.

The box office says otherwise.

No that *is* what the box office says. Been saying that since 2009.

Agree, not sure why people hate him because that's such a strong word, especially when they don't know the dude but generally agree, apart from I enjoyed Knocked up. Personally I'm a little surprised of his success since his acting is limited but I suppose he generally plays the everyman kinds of characters but hey what do I know, the dudes making bank.

He's obviously a talented writer who comes up with good ideas and I do like a number of his films, such as Superbad & Pineappale Express, even though they're two in which he plays himself in, so maybe it isn't all bad him playing himself.

It's a criticism that gets aimed at a quite a few comedic actors over the years, that they play themselves or the same part. Saying that I've heard the same about actors like Clint Eastwood & Steve McQueen.

@Brian Scott_ ridiculous how people are always whining about "anti-semitism" yet never address Hollywood's (and the media in general's) anti-Christian themes and people. Such hypocrites.

As for his success, If you seriously think that being jewish doesn't help a person in Hollywood, you're really living in denial. Jewish-Hollywood is very bigoted. Just look at Sarah Silverman; not funny at all, but she's jewish and mocks Christians. She's in like Flynn. That's the kind of truth Hollywood ignores.

These pc-obsessed times are getting old.

I agree about the PC thing but there still is a thinking that Jews run Hollywood. Well, why was my family left out???

Hollywood's problem is liberal hypocrisy. They claim to be open and sophisticated and love minorities and gays, etc. Meanwhile, the most homophobic environment I ever worked in was working for an independent film company. Leftwing phoniness is what it boils down to.

Just some very sad people, most of the topics on here are hate and make no sense people saying he plays the same character or they don't find him funny, well why would you keep watching his movies if you don't find him funny? As for playing the same type of character so what many actors do it schwarzenegger and stallone made a very long career out of being similar characters.
