I've long proposed Refn to be the best man for the job (including on this forum).
Here's the cast I'd like to see:
Tye Sheridan as the Kid. He's got gravitas, and a natural effortless that made him able to hold his own on the screen alongside one of cinema's all-time greats. He'd be able to play a silent witness to the atrocities the Glanton Gang commits.
Val Kilmer as Judge Holden. He's got the girth and the baby face, but more than that, he's got the charisma and I am convinced that this could be the comeback role of the century. Imagine his judge with the magnetism of Doc Holliday.
Josh Brolin as John Joel Glanton. Come on. There's no other choice.
Ben Foster as David Brown. His trademark intensity would be perfect.
Garret Dillahunt as Toadvine. It ain't a McCarthy adaptation without ol' Garret.
Brad Dourif as Tobin, the ex-priest. Imagine the intensity of his Wise Blood character with the gravitas of his Deadwood performance.
Ted Levine as Captain White. Blustering blowhard that would be perfect for the part.
Michael K. Williams as "Black" John Jackson. He looks perfect for the merciless world of McCarthy's west.
Michael Rooker as Cloyce Bell, the brother of the "fool."
Michael Biehn as the Kid's father. A one-scene wonder at the beginning to set the film in motion.
Sandra Bullocks voice is like a desperate housewife in Venus.
