Not that i'm saying it needed to be remade, but if it had to then i think Nicolas would have brought something original to it.

I agree. It didn't need remaking at all, and Spike Lee is certainly not the guy to do it.
I think Refn's brutality and cinematography would've made a good film.
But with good material Spike has made some decent movies and his direction isn't half bad, I do agree that Nicholas would have done a fantastic job but I don't think the new one will completely suck, you know? And Josh Brolin is a *beep* great actor and I cannot wait to see him kick ass and at first I was pissed and can honestly say its the first movie I completely hated the idea of remaking because the original was just a complete masterpiece with every scene being shot so beautifully. Finally I saw the trailer though and they had some gorgeous shots in there and it looks pretty decent to me especially the cinematography, love the shots they used for the trailer.
