Could he possibly direct Saw 8 (if it goes ahead)?

I realize this is kind of a ridiculous idea, but I think he's one of the only directors who could take this franchise into a new and cool direction. I'm a fan of the series for the most part, but as the series progressed it got more and more ridiculous and poorly written. Refn knows violence and knows how to create tension and good action too, in a somewhat "artsy" way. What do you guys think, is this a possibility?

Will never happen. Refn will never compromise his artistic freedom to make a cookie-cutter horror movie. Especially in a big franchise like Saw the producers and studio-executives will be all over it to steer the movie their way.

Refn now has the credentials to make the movies he likes, he will not sell out.

Fair enough. It probably wouldn't do much good to him, but it might do some good to the franchise. The reason I thought of Saw was because Refn has said that his favourite movie ever is the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So, seeing that he associates with (and makes!) violent and graphic movies, he might want to do a slasher/very gory horror movie at some point, but you're right that it probably wouldn't be Saw. Thanks for the reply!
