TWILIGHT
I know, we shouldn't complain about casting choices BUT...
Carla Gugino would have been the perfect person for Esme!
does anyone agree?!
no offense to her, I just think Carla Gugino would have been way better!

sharei absolutely agree. personally, i'm totally bummed by this casting choice.
shareWhat I don't get is why they put her in a horrible looking wig, or if it's not a wig, they really effed up her hair.
"Cause we screw boys like whores on tequila!"
I really liked her as Esme. I could never picture what Esme should look like until seeing her in the movie. The only other thing I've seen her in was The Family Stone and I loved her in that. Esme is supposed to be very motherly, sweet, loving, and easy to love in return. I always thought Elizabeth, even though I only saw her in the one movie, had a very REAL feeling about her. Like she's someone you'd know in real life. That's perfect for Esme.
shareI liked her as Esme too (though she wasn't given nearly as much screentime as I would've liked - but then, that seemed to be the case with quite a few characters in the film).
I hadn't heard of her/seen her in anything either (until learning about her being cast as Esme in Twilight). Then her show The Ex List premiered here and I thought I'd watch it, to get an idea of what she was like in a different role before seeing her in Twilight. I immediately grew to like her in the show (which unfortunately got cut short) and could see her playing Esme in the Twilight movie (though, admittedly, it was quite a different role to her one in The Ex List). She just had this instant likeability about her, I thought.

Your summary of what Esme was supposed to be like^ is pretty accurate, and I think Elizabeth conveyed all those qualities extremely well (given her very brief amount of screentime).

Exactly how I feel. As someone else who hasn't seen her in much, I'm amazed at how instantly I grew to liking her after first seeing her onscreen. I do hope they give her more to do in the sequels (I think she deserves it). Esme's somene you couldn't possibly hate (heck, even Jacob found it hard to hate her in the end, didn't he?) and I think Elizabeth is the same. I can't understand anyone disliking her (though I'm sure there are those who do).
I'm just glad to see that there is someone else here who thought she did good job in the role:)
