Queen Elizabeth II was a great Queen and GB got a good new King Charles III

We have to deal with our dubious 'representing' President.
Great Britain had an always loyal, duteous and diplomatic Queen.
Now they have a good King Charles III.
Yep, listened very well to his first Speech as a King on Friday evening.

The Royals may be expensive but here's to ask if our President isn't more expensive.
Tried to find clear numbers but barely did.
The tally is difficult.
Our President doesn't do anything for tourism, glamour and image.
The Royals support the british economics across the World with well deserved respect (leastwise the Queen did and now the King will).
Only one secured number:
Our President had a budget of EUR 44.69 Mio in the year 2020.
Even not in there the costs for his predecessors (about EUR 1.5 Mio each year).

So:
Long live the King! πŸ‘‘β€‹

I'm not a Royalist and never will be, but careful to abandon approven history.

He'll be fine. To be fair, the way our system works, it would be difficult to get a 'bad' monarch. That would have to be someone who refused to cooperate with the constitutional norms they've been raised with all their lives. As long as they accept it's a largely ceremonial role and they don't start giving political opinions here, there and everywhere they're golden.

And Charles III has already made it clear that he understands that as sovereign he can't operate in the same way he did when he was Prince of Wales. So he'll be fine.

Will he be as popular as his mother? No. Will that matter? Probably not.

reply

Agreed.
In a constitutional monarchy it's quite impossible that a kind of Caligula would raise to power. Apart of that King Charles III still has some influence, even if it's only to show the standpoints of Great Britain.

Anyhow, he made a good figure with his emotional but self-controlled Speech.
A very nice Speech and he dared to say "Mama" and "Papa" at the end when he talked about his deceased parents. Simultaneously it was translated (again) with "mother" and "father" therefore listened to the whole once more cause didn't want to miss any detail.
Whenever he may come to here for a visit I'll be there to wave the british flag as a Welcome! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§β€‹

Yup. I agree. I thought it was a good speech at a very difficult moment for the man.

who personally got 30 million to do so, her and her extended family 110 million pounds a year. how noble and loyal and duteous.

what does that have to do with anything?

reply

He gets to inherit his mother's fortune while being exempt from the 40% tax that "commoners" have to pay. That's just for starters. Fuck him. And anyone who pretends that this bullshit is in any way palatable in this day and age.

I love how people are quick to show deference to his title, Charles III. The first Charles got his head cut off for being Catholic. And there is someone who many already consider to have been Charles III. Don't be surprised if that titie is replaced by George VII.

reply

Won't be surprised.
But his current title is King Charles III. πŸ‘‘β€‹
