Missi Pyle in Boeing Boeing

Missi Pyle was my third celebrity sighting in NYC this past week when we were on a visit there. I had seen/met Timothy Busfield and saw Jon Stewart (OMG!) and while waiting in line to get into the Saturday night performance of "Boeing Boeing" a very tall, pretty lady cut through the line in front of me, smiled and said "excuse me" very politely - and then went through the stage door. It wasn't till she passed I realized who she was (I'm not used to seeing stars) and she was lovely and very sweet - and EXCELLENT in the show. Her character "Gretchen" has some of the funniest lines and her physical comedy is great too. Wonderful, hilarious show - I loved every minute of it.

Damn, lucky. I went to NYC this past weekend as well and I didn't see any star sightings. I really hope to get tickets to Boeing Boeing!, the play which Missi wrote. was it good?

reply

Missi didn't write Boeing-Boeing. It's a revival

Written by a French playwright in the early 60s; the original Broadway production was a flop. This current production is a hit and is absolutely hysterical. It was also the basis for the Jerry Lewis/Tony Curtis movie in '66.

Ohhh wow. I didn't know that. By the way, does anyone know if there is really nudity in this show? my mom read that there is some nudity in it online, and now she doesn't want to take me.

I just saw it 2 days ago, and it was AMAZING! There wasn't any nudity, one of the female characters flashes another character, but the audience doesn't see anything. Seriously, I'm recommending to all of my friends that they see it, it was SPECTACULAR! Missi Pyle absolutely stole the show .... Honestly, you should see it. It's 100% worth it!

Thank you javajunkie...I told my mom and now I have tickets for two days after Christmas!!! I cannot wait.

I saw it Sunday Dec 28, 2008. There is no nudity. In one scene a woman completely covered with a bath towel, with her back to the audience apparently reveals herself to a seated character for comic effect; the audience sees nothing but the towel.

I hope this helps. It is an adult comedy but not in the least pornographic. It assumes there is comedy in a fellow having three fiancées at the same time, without the three knowing about it.

It's a show I would like to see again; wonderfully funny.
