Fired by the UTA?

...for being "difficult" on set? Okay. If he's so difficult to work with, then why did Martin Scorsese bring him in on Hugo? He'd already worked with him on Boardwalk Empire and knew what he was like on set.

Exactly, Nicole. Since this is the first time I've ever heard him being difficult on set and just difficult anywhere, period...I think he may have been fired because they wanted him to do something very stereotypical Hollywood actor and he refused and they just blamed it on him being a prima donna because he's an actor but he was just doing it because of his ethics, etc...thats what I think this was a case of because I have never heard of him being "difficult" ever.

From what I understand, he was already on his way out the door and ready to sign with WME when his agent pulled the old “You can’t fire us, we’re dropping you!” routine. The very next day the agent called an industry “insider” gossip site claiming UTA had fired Michael for being difficult on set “and otherwise”, in an attempt to make Michael look like the bad guy in the situation. The website didn’t even publish the story until WME announced Michael had signed with them a few days later.

The thing is, Michael does have a reputation for being difficult. He’s given UTA and a lot of other people quite a bit of trouble over the years. I’ve heard some horror stories. But he seems to have gotten it together as of late. I haven’t heard of anyone having a bad experience with him on Boardwalk. So that shoots holes in UTA’s “story”. It seems like a petty plant piece to paint themselves as saints, when in reality it gives them the black eye.

Michael is better off at WME. UTA is the minor leagues. They’ve groomed a lot of big names throughout the years, but they have all eventually jumped ship for WME or CAA.

Not difficult as in nasty or uncooperative or anything, not intentionally anyway. Let's just say there have been times when his "extracurricular activities" have gotten in the way of him doing what was expected of him on and off set in some pretty spectacular ways. But I haven't heard of anything of that nature happening on Boardwalk. Not one bad thing about him at all, in fact. Like I said, he seems to have gotten his act together.

If you really want details, I'd feel more comfortable discussing in a PM. I don't want to spread negativity. The intent of what I originally said was to call BS on UTA.
