Why Did People Hate Her So Much?

She didn't have any musical talent and couldn't sing, she didn't write her own music or play her own instruments, she sang these cheesy teenybopper bubblegum pop songs and people complained she was talentless, manufactured and a record company creation to make money.

That also goes for the other pop stars of her time: Spice Girls, Britney Spears, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, 5ive, Steps, S Club 7, Mandy Moore, etc.

And we still have pop stars today like that (Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, One Direction, etc.) but we always have had pop stars like that and unfortunately, we always will. The dance that never ends.

She was corporate rock, like alot of people including those American Idol singers. They all suck. She's a better actress anyway. I like to pretend that the music from the 90's never happened because most of it sucked so bad.

That sounds like every pop star ever. It's not meant to be Beethoven. It's meant to be catchy and as long as the person singing is attractive that's all you need!

There are plenty of pop stars out there, past and present, who do have talent (Prince, Michael Jackson, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Tears For Fears, Eurythmics, Kate Bush, etc.).

There's also plenty of pop stars who write their own music and play their own instruments (Prince, The Go-Go's, the Bangles, Hanson, The Beach Boys, ABBA, even the Jonas Brothers).

And finally, there are many pop stars who aren't bubblegum pop (Prince, Tears For Fears, Bjork, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Eurythmics, New Order, etc.) and pop stars who aren't manufactured record company creations to make money.

That might be true, but some pop stars can make pop music as an art form. Tears for Fears, Kate Bush, Prince, Michael Jackson, The Beach Boys, Sinead O'Connor, Eurythmics, Bjork, even Madonna and Christina Aguilera could sometimes make pop music as an art form.

Most "American Idol" singers aren't rock. Corporate? Perhaps. Rock? Hell no.

I like to pretend that the music from the 90's never happened because most of it sucked so bad.

Then you're missing out on a lot of great music. I won't deny a lot of 90's music was terrible, especially late 90's music, and it must've sucked to be a British person in the 90's because of all of that horrible pop music during that time, like All Saints and Betty Boo and Take That, but there was a lot of excellent music in the 90's for sure.

Nirvana, "Live Through This" era Hole, Stabbing Westward, No Doubt, Garbage, Jack Off Jill, early 90's Sonic Youth, L7, Human Waste Project (terrible band name but great band), Nocturne, Marilyn Manson (yes I said it---Marilyn Manson), etc.

Plus, we can't forget to mention Portishead, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Nas, Wu Tang Clan, Tupac, Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Jewel, Sarah McLachlan, PJ Harvey, Bjork, The Prodigy, The London Suede, My Bloody Valentine, Slint, Notorious B.I.G., Lauryn Hill/The Fugees, Alanis Morissette, etc. And I'm not even a fan of most of these people!
