She's a prospecting necrophiliac rabbi prostitue!

I just started watching Deadwood and recognized the lady who played Alma Garrett, but couldn't figure out from where, so I checked here on IMDb. Besides Deadwood, I've seen 3 things with her in it...

In one she plays a necrophiliac (Kissed)
In another she plays a rabbi (Six Feet Under)
In the other, she plays a prostitute (who's also a drummer in a band) (The Center of the World)

I guess this is what actors call "range"? She really was believable in all 4 roles despite that vast differences in the characters.

She's also a very realistic (well, not that I'd know from experience but I was definately convinced) heroin addict in 'Pure'.

My personal favs are Suspicious River, Center of the World, and Marion Bridge, for serious drama...I also enjoy her lighter fare/comedies like Men with Brooms, Break a Leg, and Rare Birds. I'm really gonna miss her on Deadwood though which was where I first noticed her, before realizing what an amazing Canadian etc. career she'd already had. I've got like 15 of her movies now and can't wait to get the rest.

btw, she's better than a young Meryl Streep
