Not returning to Shark

Question: Quick question about Shark: Will Jeri Ryan be back next season?— Theresa
Ausiello: Yes, Jeri will be back, but another series regular won't. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Samuel Page will not be returning to the show. Not sure of the exact circumstances surrounding his exit, but I'm told that he was not fired. Meanwhile, the search for his replacement is on. A casting call has gone out for a "sexy, good-looking actor in his twenties." Producers want someone who can go toe-to-toe with James Woods. Hazard pay is negotiable.

Well that would be depressing BUT I saw an interview with him a few weeks ago and he was totally up for the show; and it says he wasn't fired so I'm going to keep a positive attitude and assume he got another part. Maybe a lead in something. I hope so. I love Shark but the only reason I started watching was because of Sam. I doubt if I'll be nearly as dedicated to it as I was.

I can't believe this. Maybe it's not true or he did get a better part. I'm going to remain optimistic!

I think it almost has to be something. He was at the World Premiere of POC:AT World's End a couple of weeks ago and he was smiling and looked really happy. If CBS is already looking for a replacement then he he had to know by then that he was leaving and Ausiello says he's wasn't fired. It sounds to me like he almost has to have something else.

Sam was at Disneyland three weeks ago today at the premiere of Pirates/At World's End. He was interviewed on the red carpet and they mentioned that he had been on AMC and now was on Shark working with James Woods. And Sam corrected it and said "HE worked with the INCOMPARABLE James Woods." and then he spent about a minute talking about how great it was to work with Woods. He didn't sound like someone who was leaving, at all. I know Ausiello is usually good with his scoops but I wonder if he's got this one wrong. Sam Page didn't sound at all that day like someone who was planning on leaving.

Getty Images playing golf in a celebrity tournament this past weekend. He looks REAL happy. I know he's an actor but it doesn't look fake at all. I've got a feeling he's got something else coming up. I just wish I knew what it was. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

Just a hunch, no supporting facts or information. But this smacks of a compensation issue. Perhaps he's negotiating for better pay, as is routinely the case for second or third season main performers in a series. Again, this is purely speculation on my part, but it does seem to fit when you consider his upbeat attitude and all.

I just saw him last night on a (new?)showtime original series pilot, "Filthy Gorgeous." It was starring Isabella Rosselini as a 'madam' and he was signing up on as a new escort with her agency.

According to the website below, Sam Page will not be returning. However, there is still no explanation. If Sam left on his own, then surely he must have another show/movie lined up. It's so frustrating not knowing the next time we will see Sam on a regular basis.
