Paddle Your Own Canoe

First off I want to say that I really enjoyed Nick's work on Parks & Rec. So much so that my g/f got me a copy of Nick's book (Paddle Your Own Canoe) as an anniversary gift.

The book's main theme is basically roll up your sleeves and get to work. Work hard and you'll get what you want. Don't rely on others. But it seems like his career didn't really start to take off until he met his wife (who is a famous actress).

I enjoyed reading all his stories, but I just could not shake the notion that maybe Nick shouldn't be the one telling people to paddle their own canoes?

I like the guy. He seems like a genuinely good person. I think he has loads of talent and I wish him well, but he had a lot of help "paddling his canoe".
