RIP Brian Murphy

Sadly, it has just been revealed that Brian has died at the age of 92. Most famous for the role of George Roper in the legendary 1970s British sitcom "George and Mildred' as well as its spinoffs "Man About the House' and 'Robins Nest'. He also starred in the last few seasons of the long running British comedy "The Last of the Summer Wine'. The fact that he made a character as pathetic as George Roper comical and yet still lovable was a testament to him. I'll also never forget him as a one-off detective in 'Jonathan Creek', in which he lamented that his daughter was having a baby without a father via IVF: "Who's she going to say the father is; Some wanker?" he said. Brilliant. Rip Brian Murphy 1932-2025
