HES THE COMEDIAN

LOL I was not a fan favorite of the Watchmen but, it really was a blast to a different perspective of super-hero fandom and traditional 'heroic' story lines. I thought I was in for a minimally enlightening, or entertaining 3 hour comic-book adaptation without ever reading the books. But the movie had some great philosophical undertones. Loved the ending, and the guy I liked the most was "The Comedian" because he knew it all, knew it was all a f'n joke, just laughed at the irony just like I try to do, cause what else can you do. Like "Donnie Darko". Darko far superior... But thats crossing genres both good in their own ways.

Anyway, I think it's awesome they cast him in this role. I actually did read the Walking Dead comics, and Negan, well he's a character, I realize AMC had to omit a bit of his relentless character traits such as swearing and saying the F word every other sentence, but the last episode has me convinced he'll play a good Negan. I wonder if Glen got the bat though, like the obvious route, it either him or Abraham, since the doctor girl got the arrow from that guy, like Abraham in the comics, it might be Abraham to spare the audience Glen's fate, sometimes you can go too far and drive people away, like killing Jon Snow... But who knows.. Anyway. hey that's my .02.

I myself AM a fan of Watchmen the book, and I thought he absolutely nailed the role of the Comedian. That was actually the first thing I ever really noticed him in, as I never watched Grey's Anatomy, and I instantly became a fan. Actors who can convincingly pull off morally ambiguous characters are a treasure. Gene Hackman is the best ever at that, for my money, but this guy is excellent at it as well. I felt for the Comedian despite all the horrible things he did.

I appreciate, that he appreciated irony like me. That's about it.

He was a rapist
Possibly had a sexual interest in his daughter
Murdered a woman who was carrying his kid to prove a point more or less
Murdered many more innocent for fun
and he was a drunk if that means anything
he knew of the plan IIRC and did nothing knew of impending mass destruction
completely self-absorbed.

He was total piece of *beep* I did like him in it though

Having rewatched the movie recently, I don't think he had a sexual interest in Laurie... yes, it was a little ambiguous, but I think he was genuinely trying to make a connection, based on the way he reacted to Sally. He didn't know what to do about Ozy's plan; he went to see Moloch because of that. I dunno, I'm not saying he was a hero, but I think there's a bit more of a gray area than you suggest. During his scene with Moloch I felt terrible for him. And yeah, the whole performance on Morgan's part was pretty much pitch-perfect either way.

I have to agree - I did NOT at ALL get the vibe that he saw Laurie that way... at all! I thought it was very clear from the moment they looked at each other that he knew she was his daughter (I was surprised THEY were surprised...) and I actually got the impression that that really made him remorseful of how he had treated women, if anything, at the end of his life. Seeing his daughter and really realizing what he'd done.
