I'm hoping he comes back for at least one more episode for Supernatural in the near future.

Plenty of characters have died and came back some how. Mary, Bobby, Ellen, Jo, etc... There's been opportunities to include him, for example, Sam and Dean are killed, and instead of John helping them out we got Ash.
