Sandokan

Ever since I laid my eyes on Jason Momoa I've been plagued by this (brilliant) idea that the epic miniseries 'Sandokan' is in desperate need of a remake! Never since the original broadcasting in the seventies have I come across an actor that could come close, let alone compete with Kabir Bedi's overwhelming charisma and magnetic yet dangerous appearance in the titlerole. Then Khal Drogo entered the scene and there he finally was 'The tiger of Malaysia"! All that remains is to enthuse the right director to give him the perfect setting and pair him with a female co-star of similar caliber. I'm considering Peter Jackson for the former, but still no potential candidates for the latter have come to my mind. This is a once every 40-50 years opportunity, so any suggestions for director/ female counterpart, anyone?
