Outlander-The Garrison Commander

I have loved Mr. Menzies' portrayal of Frank Randall in the Starz series - he has brought added depth and layers to the character which was somewhat less fleshed out in the Outlander books. I was absolutely mesmerized watching his interpretation of Johnathan "Black Jack" Randall in episode 6, "The Garrison Commander." I could not take my eyes off of the TV screen. It was haunting, horrifying, visceral, awesome! While this production is clearly a team effort - actors, set design, costumes, direction, camera work and especially the writers - Mr. Menzies performance was particularly compelling. His performance in this episode was one outstanding piece of work.

He's so good! The only other show I've seen him in was Persuasion a while back, and that didn't show his breadth at all. This show is a great acting vehicle for him. And I like his voice, too. :)

I barely noticed him as Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones. There are so many other meaty characters on GoT he was rather lost in the shuffle. But his role(s) in Outlander are amazing. Lots of meat lol

I have loved him since I discovered him in Rome, so I watched S3 of GOT with my eyes peeled for him. I think he did what he could to restore the layers of a character that was reduced mostly to comic relief in the show. He has been chiefly a stage actor so far, but to me he can steal the show completely even with a guest appearance (witness his stunning turn as Maggie Gyllenhaal's bodyguard in The Honourable Woman). Then again, I am completely (To)biased.

Also remarkable is his performance in the "Both Sides Now" episode, in which he visits Craigh Na Doun in a desperate, last-ditch attempt to find Claire. His agonized wailing of her name, as he dissolves in tears, is a heartbreaker.

Yes he is a very captivating actor...I watched this episode 3 times...can't take my eyes off him. I'm glad they let him work his magic.
