Robbed of a richly deserved Emmy nomination

Not only was he robbed of an Emmy nomination for Outlander (2014) he was also robbed with The Night Manager (2016). He was the best part of the show.

reply

I'm sure he'll have his chance in the future.

reply

I'm sure he will but with Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie being nominated I think that he deserves a nomination just as much.

Hi meerschweinchen,

To be honest, I felt he deserved a nomination in 2005 for RomeI. His Brutus was perfection. I liked Hugh Laurie in The Night Manager but not Tom Hiddleston. I tend to agree with a critic who said Tobias would have been a certain nominee in the guest actor category, but his contract prevented them from nominating him in that category. To be honest, many of my favorite shows like Happy Valley, Call the Midwife, Peaky Blinders, and The Fall are also great shows with amazing actors and have never been nominated either.

It just goes to show that the awards shows doesn't always nominate those who are most deserving. He certainly would have deserved a nomination for Rome (2005) but of course it didn't happen. This is why I really don't pay attention to awards shows because the best actors aren't nominated. Hugh Laurie was good in The Night Manager so I can see why he was nominated it's just that I felt that Tobias once again knocked it out of the park as Geoffrey Dromgoole.

Hi meerschweinchen,

With the right project, Tobias will get an Emmy nod. I think he's an amazing talent who will take a while to get his due. Perhaps after all his years of working as a supporting player, he'll also get a lead in a series too. I'd love it to be something dark, richly textured, something that will allow people to see what he's capable of.

reply

Most definitely so. As Geoffrey Dromgoole he conveyed more menace than the rest of the cast combined.
And sorry, but my cat would make a more plausible army veteran than Hiddleston.
