Deserves a Emmy for Deadwood

This guy has done soooo much television. I was a fan of Simon & Simon back in the day. I haven't really gotten into Jericho but have watched snippets that looked quite good. Nothing prepared me for his George Hearst. Whoa. Too bad HBO overextended itself with these big series like: Carnivale, ROME, Sopranos(of course)and you know, Entourage, THE WIRE and even Extras can't be that cheap to produce. McRaney deserves some big movies after a performance like that carnivorous animal he played.

THE WIRE is fabulous. It's politics that they don't get the true recognition that they deserve. There's no big star or sexy personality associated with it and they get snubbed criminally. Dominic West is definitely leading man material but the show is not designed that way and I'm glad.

Bottom line its too black for most folks. It is great that very good black actors have a place to go. Clark Peters is fantastic. Glynn Turman can carry the show on his back if he had to.

I actually just came to his page to see if he had indeed won awards for playing Hearst. Just now finished watching the third season and he is astounding. The whole cast is fantastic, but he blew me away, as I've always associated him with lighthearted stuff like Simon & Simon or Major Dad. I never watched Jericho, so this was the first straight drama I had seen him in. Great actor!

I agree. He blew me away as George Hearst! What a menacing portrayal! So incredibly believable, my eyes were riveted on the screen. Complex and utterly frightening. I love Brian Cox's character's description of Hearst as "a murderous engine." I never thought Al Swearingen would come across an adversary that would intimidate him to the point of being literally impotent.

How in the world did he not get nominated for an Emmy for playing Hearst?? He was great. I just don't get it.
