The amount of disrespect in this thread is amazing. Agree with him or not, McCain has always struck me as one of the few genuinely principled politicians.

I voted for him...I did not always agree with the man but i respected his integrity
He loved his country, survived a hellish war experience and did his best in the government
A good man that loved us just died...we would all do well to remember him with loving thoughts

I abstained from voting that year, but if I did vote it would've been for McCain.
I typically think of politicians as self-serving and mostly full of shit. But I do think that McCain had principles. He was a man who went his own way and largely acted according to his conscience and we need more like him.
