It's a crime that James McAvoy....
....has never been nominated for an Academy Award, let alone win one. This just goes to show that The Oscars are a joke and have been for quite sometime now. It's shameful. Smdh....
shareI thought nothing of him when he first came onto the scene, but he's a solid actor. Surprisingly he's able to do a great American accent, because his Scottish accent is thick.
shareI first remember seeing him in Wanted and thought he was fantastic in it. He's great in Atonement too. He's fabulous in one called Filth. Really good in that. But I think his best that I've seen from him is his Kevin Wendell Crumb character. He's just phenomenal in those 2 movies. For him to not even be nominated for the Oscar for either of those movies just proves what bullshit the Oscars are. And talk about accents?? He's apparently good at every one he can come up with, jesus. Just amazing. He's good in all his X-Men movies as well, but you don't really watch MCU movies for acting talent per se. But yeah, for him to have not even been nominated for Split and Glass is downright criminal.

The Academy Awards are SUPPOSED to be awarded to excellence. He is an excellent actor so he is entitled to be recognized by The Academy. To not do that shows a real disconnect between what they were originally intended for and the fucking joke they've become. That's what. share
I’ve been following the Academy Awards for two decades now, and I have learned simply from the results that—hey, guess what? They get it wrong sometimes—which is why I don’t care. It’s nice to see an actor/actress/director/whatever that you are rooting for win an award. But just because they didn’t win has no effect on whether or not the artists are great, and shouldn’t change how you as a fan should feel about their work.
It’s complicated to choose a winner in an art contest, especially one based in a highly politically motivated environment like Hollywood.
And also, you are calling out the Academy for being a joke as if that is some novel thought. People have been saying that for longer than I’ve been alive. It doesn’t matter: they are an institution. A flawed institution, but one all the same. If you don’t like their results, you are perfectly entitled to ignore them.
A side note: I can’t stand to watch the ceremony anymore, I just look up the winners afterward, and watch the speeches on YouTube. I’m pretty sure that one day there will be a McAvoy Oscar speech for me to watch. (Probably supporting, but you never know)
