Marlee Matlin knows a lot about the deaf culture and I would take her advice if I met a deaf person for the first time and didn't know what to say or how to say it like Skye and Kiki did in the episode where they met a deaf girl for the first time and didn't know what to say or how to say it, wouldn't you?

My grandfather was almost completely deaf from his exposure to artillery fire in World War I. We had to talk really, really loud to him.
