Cops find 50 pounds of pot in man's car

A 36-year-old Chicago man faces a felony drug trafficking charge after police on the Northwest Side found him in a vehicle with 50 pounds of marijuana and $12,000 cash.

Police said the marijuana would be worth $363,000 on the street--a price of approximately $454 an ounce.

Ismael Machado, of the 2700 block of West Fletcher Street, was charged with felony cannabis trafficking and is expected to appear in Cook County Bond Court today, police said.

Jefferson Park District officers were called to the 4100 block of North LeClaire Avenue about 11:30 Thursday for a report of a suspicious person and found Machado in a vehicle, according to a police news release.

After talking with him, officers found the 50 pounds of marijuana and the cash in the vehicle, according to the release. Machado was then arrested.
