Curiously Intermittent Career

Bit of a run in the 60s that ended with Krakatoa: East Of Java (I guess the title should more accurately be 'Krakatoa: Somewhere reasonably near Java'), then 6 years later a guest bit in Dixon Of Dock Green and very patchy thereafter. But he seems to have been more interested in being a singer and there is stuff on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFo79873I7g

I think of him as more of a singer with those Joe Meek productions. 'Johnny Remember Me' and 'Son This Is She' are really good records. I think he is like a number of American singers at the time who were also drafted into movies. They were singers at heart rather than actors.

I don't remember him as a singer at all. I suspect he belongs to that generation who were blasted into obscurity by The Beetles.

His single records stopped at the end of 1964 so I think you're right to say the Beatles period halted his singing career. There were just a couple of obscure new singles from him in the early 1970s.
