He did something for the audience which I found exceptional

As an American, we watch our programs and when the lead playing an American seaks in another venue and turns out to be from another land, it kind of messes up the illusion. A prime example is Hugh Lurie who was wonderful as House M.D. The first time you see him in an interview or talk show, it blows you away when you hear his native accent. Anyway, Damian Lewis is a Brit but when you watch the Homeland behind the scenes interview on Showtime, he speaks in his American character's accent and I feel this is a gift to the audience. He certainly doesn't have to do this but I think that it's cool that he does this.

Actually he does. If it was a behind the scenes documentary then he would have kept his American accent on because a lot of actors stay in the accent all day.

There's a story about when Stephen Fry was working on Bones and was going to have lunch on the Fox lot with his friend Hugh Laurie, Hugh was a bit weary since he usually keeps his American accent on while he's work but didn't know what to do when his old friend from England turned up.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

Purcell does it as well (not equating their respective talents), I'm just saying - what commitment, and bravo ;)
