The Master and Fellows of Selwyn are thrilled to announce that Hugh Laurie OBE, (SE 1978), Robert Harris (SE 1975) and General Sir Peter Wall KCB CBE ADC (SE 1975) are to be made honorary fellows of the College.
It is Selwyn Colleges pleasure and privilege to extend this gesture to these 3 alumni who have gone on to have such extraordinary and diverse careers.
Acclaimed comedian, actor and musician Hugh Laurie read Social Anthropology at Selwyn. Perhaps most famous for A bit of Fry and Laurie, Blackadder and of course the award- winning House.
After reading English at Selwyn, Robert Harris worked for the BBC on programmes such as Panorama and Newsnight, as well being a columnist for a number of leading broadsheets and the political editor of The Observer. He is the author Fatherland, Enigma, Archangel, Pompeii and Imperium - all of which were worldwide bestsellers.
General Sir Peter Wall read Engineering at Selwyn; he is currently serving as the Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the British Army. His early service was spent in Belize and Rhodesia, in 'Cold War' Germany, as a platoon instructor at Sandhurst, and in Hong Kong. He is Chief Royal Engineer and President of Army Rugby, Association Football, Modern Pentathlon, and Sport Parachuting.
