why so much hate?

There is something about Shia that irritates me. His attitude, acting, maybe even his name just doesn't appeal to me. I consider Joseph Gordon Levitt to be in the same class but I like him and I enjoy his movies.

people hate things that are different.

I don't hate Shia - I think he's a great actor, good looking, and charming and funny in interviews. I honestly have no idea why he was getting so much hate from practically the beginning of his adult career. I don't think he deserved it at all back then. However, nowadays he is kind of a douche. His bizarre behavior, arrests, being a public nuisance, and all of the weird publicity stunts he has done have turned a lot of people off.

The moment for me was his "Ice Bucket Challenge." I don't know if he was trying to be funny, or if he really was just being himself, but it was disrespectful and I haven't been able to forget about it. 

But again, I don't hate him. He just makes me sad.

Somewhere along the line he got absorbed in his own celebrity. Thought he was epitome of acting. He just got annoying, I automatically avoid his work now. He's like Tom Cruise, minus the Scientology! Although I'm sure he's likely into some cultish type religion also.
