I think he's the opposite of versatile. T-Bag was a happy convergence of the right actor for the right role and he was indeed terrific in season one. He's been around for years working steadily but pretty anonymously and in no very memorable performances. He'd be anonymous still without PB. His villains usually partake of T-Bag to some degree and in his non villain roles you forget he was there before the end credits roll. He has stated he's tired of being viewed as only as Bagwell but he can't or won't stay away from the trough when it's filled with fresh swill. This makes me think he did not turn down an Oscar bait role to do PB. He's certainly not a talent-free actor but his big role was a character who could be played pretty expansively or even with a fair bit of scenery chewing because he was intended to be seen in small doses, not as someone in the thick of things for 4, now 5 seasons.
