Her southern accent
Her attempt at sounding southern in Hart of Dixie is One of the worst accents i have ever heard. Agree? Disagree?

shareI agree! I really enjoy her acting work, but this accent is way too thick. It would be okay if it were consistent with the accents of the rest of the village, but it is way out of context. She went to high school with all these kids, lived there her whole life, yet her accent is waaaay worse than the simple southern twang the other characters have. It is a shame, because I find her depiction of the town belle, having to live up to impossible expectations while having normal fears and doubts and passions of a woman her age really believable. I understand how she must feel like she is living in some sort of mold. I think that the accent really takes away from the believability of her character, even though she is a great actress! It's a shame directors didn't call her out on this :(.

It's almost painful it's so bad.

I believe the "over drive" had far more to do with her Lemon character emotion-base.
Lemon struggled badly in living up to her classic, iconic momma's 'Belle' status (and former beauty queen pageant winner) especially after the woman left... er abandoned the family. I think of it as Lemon deliberately putting up airs, in order to avoid personal failure---like an actor overdoing a character, for emotional reasons, rather than personal ...

It's not the first--nor will it be the last--fake accent from Hollywood. Out of 50 or more cast members on Hart of Dixie, about 5 were actually from the south! Oh well. It bothered me for a few episodes, but then I got used to it as I fell in love with the show. And I really grew to like Lemon.
shareNo! Most American characters in American shows are not even played by Americans now! That is how it seems a lot. I see Canadians and British actors and australians and all sorts. It is a shame because many don't play Americans well enough.

Soooooooo, thot's becawse most Americons now can't talk without some stupid valley girl/trendy hipster accent, and it's embarrassing to the rest of the world so we have to like get actors from like, other countries??

Big deal. The Brits have been going through it for decades. If the accent is even slightly reasonable. I just let it go.
Besides, there are so many shows with absolutely horrid writing (HoD is not one of them), that the accents are the least of the worries.
