What is supposed to be the connection between the two? I brush my teeth all the time and they've always been kind of yellowish.

Use baking soda, coconut oil and/or some hydrogen peroxide.Much better than toothpaste.

My enamel has been yellowish since childhood. I blame it on fluoritis, my nursery school was excessively zealous with fluorine tablets when I was going there. (Mind you, it was the socialist eighties here.) But since I'm not overly vain, I sort of don't have a problem with that, it's not *that* severe.

Fluoride toothpaste usually sucks.Mix coconut oil and baking soda and/or hydrogen peroxide with some water. That stuff works great. Cleans out your mouth and whitens your teeth.

Fluoride paste may suck in some respects, but I don't think that any of the compounds you have mention can actually replace the calcium ions leached from the enamel.
