shareI just saw "Changeling" also, and Michael was superb in it. In fact, the second half of the film belongs to him. He has very expressive eyes, and he captured an emotional depth of the detective that was astounding.
I also came here looking to see what else he's been in. I've seen "Unbreakable" and "Dawn of the Dead" with him, which were both very good, but honestly, I don't even remember his role. I'm sorry that this doesn't really answer your question, so maybe someone else can.
He's barely even in Unbreakable - he says like three lines and you hardly see him (he's the doctor at the beginning who tells Bruce Willis that he's the only survivor of the train crash), so I wouldn't bother with that one. I think his part in Dawn of the Dead is worth watching, though, especially if you get the director's cut. Other than that, he's really good in Loggerheads and is one of the main characters. His Shield appearance is good too if you can ever catch a rerun, or the DVD. Tooth and Nail I would avoid unless you just really want to see him. I'm a horror fan, but that movie was painfully bad.
shareI totally agree about Dawn of the Dead. I haven't seen Loggerheads, I really need to though. Was Tooth and Nail really that bad? He was also in whatsitcalled. Invincible? The one about that bartender who made it to the NFL or something? I heard that was good, but I don't know...
shareI think he's the best part of the movie, to be honest. I have seen him in a lot of parts where he's either the "heavy" or a cop/agent with a bad attitude (not nice). There was something in his face in this movie, the sensitivity and sweetness about how he handled the poor Clark kid who confesses. The way he wishes Walter escaped when the other kid comes back alive. Something in his eyes in this performance I don't think I've seen before. He always had a devilish, boyish sparkle in his eyes in other parts, but in this movie he is this brash I don't care cop that ends up saving everybody sort of guy. I love him in this movie.

I too think he and Amy Ryan were the highlights of Changeling. And at least one critic praised this actors performance in Changeling.
shareI loved Michael in it and he really made the movie for me. They never even mention whether he got any credit or not for his part in solving these crimes and Michael's performance of this detective is the reason you even care, because he did so much to make you feel for him. Amy was great because once again you don't even recognize her until long into her performance. She really changes her appearance every time and you have to focus solely on her performance and it is terrific in a small part.
