I was thinking that same thing when I first saw Warriors a few years back, even prior to Batman Begins and the knowledge that Joker would make another appearance now that the series has been revamped. He's got (especially in Warriors, despite it being so long ago) an excellent face for Joker, can be creepy extremely well and could get the vibe down without a problem.
Only two downsides I can think of, and don't get me wrong, I am a fan of the idea, I'm just being realistic:
1) His height. Joker has always been 6'5", and Batman begins was very good about using appropriately sized individuals, mainly Bale's Batman and Neeson's Ra's Al Ghul. David being 5'6" could make that difficult.
2) His age. Though it will obviously be a role involing makeup and possibly prosthetics, they're talking about utilizing a more organic and believable-yet-creepy Joker, and may go for someone younger. Keep in mind that I, personally, am not holding any of this against him, it just seems like the kinds of things that studios take into account. To be fair, nobody actually knows how old Joker is. Makes me wish the studios had given a damn about the comics during the old series of films, he would have been more age appropriate during the '89 Batman flick.
