I just done a marathon of SOA for the last week.

1) over how long of a time period does the series take place?

2) how long was Jax president?

3) how long between JT and Jax dying?

1) It seems like the timeframe of the shows mainly follow the real timeframe, it would be from 2008 to 2014, so i'd say the series takes place on about 7 years.
2) I forgot the season when he became prez, season 4 maybe, so it would be 3 years.
3) JT died in the 70's, Jax in 2014, so... about 40-45 years i'd say.

JT died in 1993...

1) 7 years.

2) Last episode of season 4 until last episode of season 7 - around 3 years.

3) JT died in 93, Jax in 2014 - 21 years.

Well, series-wise, the show itself lasted for about seven years (2007-2014), about three years before a certain fantasy series ever actually existed.

Hell, you could even say that Sons was the Game of Thrones , before Game of Thrones was actually a thing.
