It doesnt matter whether it gets great reviews. As long as it makes MONEY there will be five more of them, and it is well positioned. I dont know the rating, but it is probably PG and that means the teen audience and the family audience can go. It is Guy Ritchie so the parents have something non insulting and not boring to watch, everybody remembers Snatch, but they can also bring the kiddies because it is King Arthur. For me it was so-so, but Brad Pitt as the Piker was great. "Pikers" are sort of like gypsies in Ireland/England/Scotland, also known as "travellers." Great character. Movie was so-so, but I listened to the sound track endlessly. Lock, stock and two smoking barrels was okay, but I barely remember it. I am going track down some of his non Madonna movies.

If you ask me, Guy got smart and is now doing very commercially oriented films, UNCLE is another baby boomer retread, it might be good though, but it will do fine in the box office and later on Amazon, Netflix, TV, DVD, foreign rights, etc.

If you ask me a six film King Arthur is Guy's retirement account. He has like four kids and a wife now, (as of like a month ago) so if one does well, then he is money for decades. And it will do well, for the reasons I just mentioned. Also we are in an era which is very fantasy and sort of dungeons and dragons obsessed...all those Joss Whedon TV shows and then Twilight and Hunger Games, etc. Don't worry about it. It will probably be pretty good and it will make good cash. That is all you have to know.

Charlie is also smart to get in on the ground floor. It would be weak to change the main character if it is successful. And it is middle brow enough subject matter so it will be. If it isnt they wont make the others.

I even bet if Charlie does well enough, since it sort of glorifies the royal family he might even get an O.B.E. for it....and be Sir Charlie. I could see that! I mean it is already Sir Guy Ritchie as well as Sir David Beckham who is in the movie...the whole thing is a paean to British folklore and the British Royal family. I know I sound pretty silly for saying it, but it depends on how good/successful the films are.

Good points but just a couple clarifications from a Brit...

Travellers are known as 'pikeys' and its used it quite a derogatory manner, so I wouldn't recommend anyone uses the term outside of talking about a Guy Ritchie movie :)

Getting an OBE does not entitle you to be known as Sir. You need a KBE for that - which is a couple ranks higher.

I think it's going to bomb in the US, but will probably do well overseas, especially Europe. Unfortunately, I don't think it will up his profile. I honestly don't see him becoming a major movie star. I think he's a decent actor, but he is not in the same league as someone like Tom Hardy who completely transforms and is brilliant in every role. I see Charlie going back to TV (nothing wrong with that). Either way, I'm rooting for Charlie because he's such a nice guy.

Tom Hardy. He's a fellow Brit in the same age group as Charlie. If you honestly haven't seen any of his work I suggest checking him out. He played Bane in Dark Knight Rises, was also in Inception and Mad Max Fury Road, but he's been in loads of other things. I actually like the smaller stuff he's been in. He's an amazing actor and he's easy on the eyes in a more rugged masculine way than even Charlie.

Thanks for the clarification, I have read Bury Me Standing and also about the "crofters" etc. I just know the Pitt character was called the Piker or the Pikey...cant remember. I dont know the OBE stuff.

I only know the funniest thing I ever heard was the Howard Stern prankster who said " I am an Earl and an OBE that means I am an Earlobe." ---not a Stern fan but that bit was funny.

I had to look him up on Google because I read a blind revealed that Charlize Theron refused to do press with him because he was obnoxious to her after she refused his advances. Which is not a good idea with Charlize, she has been known to get her revenge. And I was like...yeah, whatever. Sorry, I am not saying Charlie Hunnam is God, he isnt but I prefer him in a lot of ways because SOA to me had color,if nothing else it had texture and some emotional cojones for me.

I say strong B career for Charlie, I dont know whether he is a nice guy or not but you dont hear anything hideous so far, so good. I also want him to be a very not nice guy and dump his GF for someone better.
