Why is he an actor? He CAN'T act! (SoA)

Hi everyone,

i just finished the first season of Sons of Anarchy and i really ask myself why he was castet as the leading role of the series, and why he is an actor in general! I mean, honestly, i'm a bit shocked about his perfomance. I don't want to hate or something, but in my opinion, he is not able to show emotions at all.

He has just that one look: he tilts his head forewards, frowns and tries to look like a bad boy. If he has to look serious, he looks like a boy who wants it's lolly back, when he's supposed to be sad or even crying it's seems so unreal, sometimes you even ask yourself if he's laughing. Everytime he speaks about some serious topics or makes some advises to the hard bad boys of the club it seems like he want's to explain a children to not play football/soccer in the house cause something could get broken. It's such an odd "acting" that it's often unintentionally funny!

I'll give you two examples of scenes that ramained in my mind:
Season 1, episode 12, about minute 40:
Jax comes to the crime scene of donnas death, his friend Opie is absolutly broken and lies next to his dead wife. What is JEx reaction? No suprise, no shock, no damn emotion at all!! I mean, this is an absolutly extreme situatiuon where his best friend obie suffers the biggest pain you can suffer. Jex empathy expreses itself in no more than a cold hug. So bad! Absolutly unbelievable.

And it get's even better. Look in the face, especially in the eyes of Jex when he comes home and opens the door (in the next scene). There is no, really no damn emotion at all in his eyes or in his facial expression. He looks like he comes back from school with a bad grade. Next cut he falls in the arms of his mother and cries, without even one tear in his eyes. It's so unbelievingly, doesn't fit the situation at all.

Another example for bad acting? Look at the last episode, from the moment he realizes that donna was shot from a club member and that opie was the target, he seems to get really angry, at least that's what i would be in his situation. Look at the scenes where he talks to the police officer (min 32), his mom (min 39), to Clay (min 43) and even the moment the holds his gun against Tigs head: You can't tell me that his acting is anywhere near good; his anger, rage believable! It just isn't in my eyes!

To sum up, i think Mr. Hunnan has not really the soul and skills to be even a decent actor. His main problem are his eyes which are asolutly cold, without expression. Next is mime and last one his walking style! God, everytime he walks he looks like a retarded wannabe-gangstah... (for example, look at the moment he walks away from Donnas funeral, how disrespectful and idiotic does that look!?)

I find it really hard to watch scenes with him where his emotional expression is demanded. All in all, i honestly think that 90% of the cast of SoA plays their role more believable than Charlie does his role as Jex.

What do you think?
Greetings :)
